The iPhone 3GS Strikes U.S. Smartphone Market
If you are one of those folks who don’t need the latest and greatest, it may tickle your fancy. It aims to know that Best Buy is giving away the iPhone 3GS. The sale will only last through today, and is only available to customers signing a new two-year contract with AT&T or renewing their contract. The Motorola Droid Bionic is a 4G LTE smartphone running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a dual core 1GHz processor. This is the first dual core 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon’s network.
Calls to two Best Buy stores in California and one in Pennsylvania revealed that two of the stores had lines outside before the stores opened on Sunday. One, in suburban Los Angeles, had a line long enough to snake around the corner of the store. Because stock of the TouchPad was low–typically tens of units–the stores sold out quickly.

The Droid Bionic has an 8MP rear facing camera that can record in 1080P and a VGA quality front facing camera that sits above the 4.3″ display. There is no official pricing on the Droid Bionic, but we are expecting a sub-$600 full retail price with the possibility of a $299 two year contract price. This price has made an appearance in several locations now, and while the Best Buy ad doesn’t list a price, the Bionic is furthest to the left, next to the $299 Samsung Charge.
Best Buy may be a big corporate entity but they also get cool exclusive movie materials like, all the time. Now, the big summer blockbuster Thor joins The Lord of the Rings and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three in the “Exclusive” club with a Blu-Ray set that includes a limited edition Journey Into Mystery #83 cover (which boasted Thor’s first appearance in a Marvel comic book way back in August, 1962), and a bonus offer for anyone who pre-orders online before the film’s home video release on September 13, 2011.

Anyways, the 3GS has already passed its second birthday (that’s basically a centennial in phone years). With a two-year agreement, you’ll be toting around A Phone made in 2009 around the same time that the iPhone 7 comes out. By then, who knows the extent to which your 3GS specs will be out-dated.
